Objective

The purpose of this course is to enable participants to proficiently utilize X-ray imaging systems to detect and resolve threats effectively at airports. They will understand the operational principles, safety protocols, and image analysis techniques necessary to identify prohibited items, weapons, and concealed threats, ensuring robust aviation security.

  • Understand the importance of prevention by recalling a few incidents that have occurred.
  • Describe the main components of an x-ray system.
  • Explain the operating principle of an X-ray system.
  • Perform the proper functioning test.
  • List the main safety rules.
  • Recognize weapons, explosive devices, dangerous and everyday objects, especially when dismantled or concealed.
  • Apply the radioscopic image analysis protocol.
  • Apply the threat resolution protocol (progress test).
  • Use the x-ray system set up at the airport.

  6. Module 5: Practical part: identification of real images, test kit, XRT4 Simulator – CASRA

Target audience

The target population will be all airport personnel likely to hold a position related to radioscopic imaging.

Prerequisites

Have successfully completed secondary education or an equivalent level.
Have written and oral command of the language of instruction.
