AFSAC – ICAO ASTC Tunis is an international centre of excellence of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), holding a unique position thanks to its dual official recognition as an ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre (ASTC) and a member of the global ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (Global Aviation Training – GAT).

This dual recognition gives AFSAC the capacity to design, develop and deliver certifying training programmes covering the various technical fields of civil aviation addressed by the 19 Annexes to the Chicago Convention, drawing on ICAO’s official training packages (Standardized Training Packages – STPs, Competency-Based Training Packages – CBTs and TRAINAIR PLUS Training Packages – TPPs), in line with the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), the Procedures for Air Navigation Services (PANS) and international best practice.

Beyond its role as a training centre, AFSAC supports States, Civil Aviation Authorities, airport operators, air navigation service providers, airlines and international organisations in implementing ICAO standards and requirements, through integrated solutions spanning training, technical assistance, coaching, consultancy, audits, capacity building, skills development, instructional design and institutional support.

Fully in line with ICAO’s global “No Country Left Behind” initiative, AFSAC draws on its network of international experts to support States in the sustainable development of their national capabilities, in the transfer of knowledge and expertise and in strengthening the skills of their human capital. Through its training programmes, technical assistance missions and strategic support, AFSAC contributes to improving national oversight systems, preparing for international audits and modernising civil aviation structures, for air transport that is safer, more secure, more efficient and more sustainable.
