Objective

The Training Developers Course (TDC) trains future designers of Standardised Training Packages (STP) in ICAO’s TRAINAIR PLUS methodology. Over ten days, participants master needs analysis, instructional design and validation of standardised courses.

Learning objectives

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • apply the TRAINAIR PLUS course design methodology;
  • conduct a training needs analysis and a task analysis;
  • write measurable performance objectives;
  • design materials and assessments aligned with the objectives;
  • prepare a Standardised Training Package (STP) for ICAO validation.

Structure

  1. Module 0: Introduction to TRAINAIR PLUS and the STP process
  2. Module 1: Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
  3. Module 2: Task analysis and competency profile
  4. Module 3: Writing performance objectives
  5. Module 4: Designing learning units and materials
  6. Module 5: Designing assessments and validation
  7. Module 6: STP assembly and ICAO submission

Target audience

Instructors, instructional designers and training managers from civil aviation authorities, airports and airlines wishing to develop ICAO-standardised courses.

Prerequisites

Teaching or operational experience in a civil aviation field. Proficiency in the course language.
